About Pedro A.

Pedro A. Perez-Roura took a direct path into tax law. He earned his J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law and followed that with an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. Those credentials shaped his legal perspective early on and guided the subjects he pursued after law school.

His career has unfolded in Florida. After completing his LL.M., he entered practice in the state and has kept his work anchored there. Over the years he has built experience advising clients on federal and state tax matters. He has represented both individuals and business clients, helping them address tax questions that arise in planning, transactions and compliance.

Perez-Roura also maintains current memberships in professional associations. He has used those memberships to stay current on developments in tax law and to engage with peers on technical issues. That ongoing involvement informs how he approaches complex tax rules and the practical steps he recommends to clients.

The substance of his work is tax law. He handles planning and counseling that touches on income tax, transactional tax issues and compliance obligations. He also deals with audits and other tax controversies when clients encounter disputes with tax authorities. His training in taxation helps him translate dense statutory and regulatory material into options that clients can use in decision-making.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in his approach to research and practical when it comes to presenting options to clients. He tends to break problems into discrete issues and to frame solutions in ways clients can implement. He is comfortable working on matters that cross into related areas, such as business structuring and estate-related tax questions, when those topics affect a client’s tax position.

He continues to practice in Florida, advising on tax planning, compliance and controversy. His current practice centers on providing tax advice to individuals and businesses operating under Florida law.
