About Paul H.
Paul H. Millewich took an unconventional route into the law. He began at the United States Coast Guard Academy, where he earned a B.S. in oceanography. That scientific training preceded a law degree from The George Washington University’s Mount Vernon campus, where he completed his J.D. in 1977. The combination of ocean science and legal training shaped the practical contours of his career.
After law school he built a practice that crossed state lines. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and the District of Columbia. Records show him working as a lawyer at Mevorah & Giglio Law Offices in 2000. That experience placed him in the middle of civil practice in the Chicago area and connected him to issues that often touch on maritime and admiralty concerns.
Millewich’s background in oceanography has informed his approach to maritime questions. He serves as chairperson of the Chicago Bar Association’s Maritime Law Committee, a role that keeps him engaged with matters affecting ports, shipping, and federal admiralty procedures. The chairmanship also puts him in regular contact with judges, regulators and fellow attorneys who handle complex vessel, cargo and insurance disputes.
He balances technical knowledge and legal procedure. Colleagues say he is comfortable reading survey reports and translating them into claims or defenses in court. That facility is useful in cases that require an understanding of tides, currents or vessel operations alongside contractual and statutory issues. He has handled matters that require work on both the factual and procedural sides of maritime litigation.
Outside committee leadership, Millewich has remained rooted in the Chicago region. He maintains office presences in several suburban locations, which allows him to serve clients across different parts of the metro area. His practice draws on long-term relationships developed over decades in practice, and on a career that spans both scientific training and courtroom work.
He continues to contribute to legal conversations about maritime law through his bar association role and daily practice. His work combines an early technical education and decades of legal experience. He currently practices maritime and admiralty law from offices in Chicago, Bloomingdale, St. Charles and Lombard.
