About Paul

Paul Grigsby mixes technical training and years in court rooms and corporate offices. His path to law began in the cockpit and on the campus. He earned an A.S. in Aviation Technology and Flight Technology from Colorado Northwestern Community College in 1986, then a B.A. in Economics from the University of Montana in 1991, and a J.D. from the University of Montana School of Law in 1995. Those degrees map a course from practical technical skill to economic analysis and finally to legal practice.

After law school he served as a law clerk to the Montana Thirteenth Judicial District Court in 1995. That early courtroom exposure gave him direct experience with trial procedure and judicial decision-making. He went on to join private practice as an associate in 1998 at Wright, Tolliver & Guthals, P.C., where he handled matters typical of a regional firm and developed his litigation and transactional foundations.

In 1999 he moved into an in-house role as General Counsel for Livingston Rebuild Center/Talgo-LRC, LLC. That position shifted his daily work from firm caseloads to corporate responsibilities, where he advised on contracts, compliance, and operational legal issues tied to manufacturing and rebuilding operations. The in-house post added a different perspective on risk management and client-side decision processes.

In 2004 he opened his own practice, Paul Grigsby, PLLC. Running a solo and small-firm operation required him to cover a wide range of matters. He has managed client relations, case intake, drafting, negotiation and courtroom appearances. Over time his practice has reflected both the hands-on demands of private clients and the practical concerns of businesses that require ongoing counsel.

Grigsby’s educational background in aviation and economics gives him a varied toolkit. The technical and analytical training informs how he approaches evidence and financial aspects of a case. The judicial clerkship and years in practice shape how he prepares matters for court and counsel for settlement. He is admitted to practice in Montana and bases his work in that jurisdiction.

Colleagues describe him as deliberate in planning a case and pragmatic in resolving disputes. He balances courtroom readiness with attention to contracts and compliance. Today he continues to operate Paul Grigsby, PLLC, handling legal matters arising in Montana and drawing on both his courtroom experience and corporate counsel background in his current practice focus.
