About Paul

Paul Burkett combines a background in business and law with decades of experience in real estate and institutional counsel work. He studied business before turning to law, and his career has moved between transactional practice and in-house roles.

Burkett earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Auburn University at Montgomery in 1981, where he emphasized real estate and finance. He later attended the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University and received his Juris Doctor in 1991.

After law school he entered the legal profession in Alabama. He joined the Alabama State Bar in 1994 and has maintained membership since then. Earlier, in 1988, he obtained an associate broker credential from the Alabama Real Estate Commission, a credential he also continues to hold.

His work has crossed private practice and organizational counsel roles. In 2001 he served as general counsel and legal service provider for the Central Alabama Aging Consortium. That role required advising a nonprofit on regulatory, contractual, and service-delivery issues. In 2004 he took on real estate transactions work at Azar, Azar & Moore, LLC, where he handled closings, contracts, and matters tied to property finance and conveyancing.

Burkett has supplemented his legal credentials with training in property management. He holds a certification in Real Property Management from the National College of Appraisal and Property Management. That credential sits alongside his AREC associate broker status and informs his transactional practice, particularly where property valuation, management agreements, and regulatory compliance intersect.

His background in business administration and real estate finance underpins much of his professional work. He has experience preparing and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, reviewing title matters, and coordinating closings. He also has handled legal matters for nonprofit clients, giving him perspective on governance, contracts, and regulatory obligations that differ from corporate practice.

He is currently listed with Argo|Hughes LLC as Paul E Burkett. He maintains an active practice in Alabama that encompasses real estate transactions, property-management matters, and legal services for organizational clients. He practices primarily in areas related to property law and transactional work.
