About Adele

Adele Underwood built her legal foundation at small liberal arts and regional law schools in Alabama. She earned a B.A. in history from Judson College in 2014. She then moved to Faulkner University's Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where she completed a J.D. in 2017 and an LL.M. in Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution the same year.

Her early years in the law were the kind that teach by doing. While still a student she interned in the Perry County District Court and later at the One Place Family Justice Center. A 2017 internship with the Public Defender of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Montgomery gave her exposure to criminal defense work and courtroom procedure.

After law school she began taking on a variety of roles that mixed client work and advocacy. In 2018 she worked as a legal advocate for the Family Sunshine Center and served of counsel at Allred & Allred, P.C. That year she also opened Baker Underwood Law Office as owner and principal lawyer, handling matters that drew on her courtroom experience and interest in victim services.

By 2020 Underwood was back inside the public defender system as a trial lawyer for the Office of the Public Defender in the 15th Judicial Circuit. She tried cases in criminal court and handled daily litigation tasks. The next year she joined the Administrative Office of Courts as a judicial assistant, a post that broadened her view of court administration and procedure.

In 2022 she took on a senior leadership role at Imani Global Law, serving as senior partner and chief technology officer. The move reflected both practice and operational interests. She has maintained a mix of trial work, client counseling and technology-driven firm management. Her certifications include training as a sexual assault victims’ advocate and as a victims’ advocate through the Alabama Coalition Against Rape and the Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

Underwood is active in local and state bar circles. She has been a member of the Alabama State Bar Association since 2017 and the Alabama State Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program since 2018. She also joined the Capitol City Bar Association in 2019. Those memberships reflect continuing ties to the Montgomery legal community and to volunteer legal services.

She currently practices at Imani Global Law, LLC, where her work includes criminal defense, victim advocacy and the development of legal technology and firm operations.
