About Patrick Mathisen
Patrick Mathisen Brooks built a measured path into the law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Geology from the University of Memphis in 2006. He later received his Juris Doctor from Nashville School of Law in 2012. Those studies set the groundwork for a practice centered in Tennessee.
After graduation, Brooks established himself in the Memphis legal community. He is licensed to practice in Tennessee and is admitted to appear before the Federal Circuit. His career has been tied to criminal defense work, a trajectory reflected in his long-standing professional memberships and training.
Since 2013 Brooks has been a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He has taken part in the organization’s Trial College and is affiliated with the association’s Criminal Defense College. Those programs are geared toward courtroom skills and trial preparation, and they have been part of his continuing legal education.
Brooks also holds a ministerial credential from the Universal Life Church. The credential is among several nontraditional qualifications he maintains alongside his legal credentials. Professionally, he appears to combine courtroom practice with community ties rooted in Memphis.
He operates from Brooks Law Office in Midtown Memphis. The office serves as his base for client meetings and trial work. Over the years Brooks has handled matters that brought him into Tennessee state courts and into federal filings where admission to the Federal Circuit was necessary.
Colleagues and peers know him for steady courtroom presence rather than publicity. His memberships in the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers connect him to peers across the state. Through those connections he has kept up with trial techniques and procedural developments that affect criminal cases in Tennessee.
Brooks’s background in geography and geology is a distinctive element among lawyers in his area. It contributes a different perspective during investigation and preparation. He continues to practice from an office in Midtown Memphis, where his work centers on criminal defense matters.
