About Parrish S.
Parrish S. Nordan combines legal training and scientific study in a career anchored in intellectual property. He holds a Juris Doctor from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Political Science from the University of Alabama. His background gives him a footing in both technical and regulatory aspects of IP practice.
Nordan completed his law degree in 2015 after studying biology and political science as an undergraduate. The mix of hard science and legal study shaped an interest in patent and trademark work early on. That interest guided his path into patent practice and positions that require an understanding of both technical detail and legal procedure.
He is admitted to practice in South Carolina and Alabama, and he is also licensed in the District of Columbia. In addition, Nordan is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Those credentials allow him to move between state-level litigation and federal patent prosecution.
Since 2019 he has practiced at Nordan Licensing as an intellectual property lawyer. His day-to-day work involves patent preparation and prosecution, trademark matters and counseling clients on IP strategy. He has applied scientific training to issues that range from biotechnology to more traditional mechanical inventions. The work requires translating technical concepts into legal claims that can survive examination and enforcement.
Outside of casework he is active in professional organizations. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the South Carolina Bar. He serves on the South Carolina Bar Intellectual Property and Innovation Committee and the South Carolina Bar Technology Committee. He is a member of the South Carolina Bar Fee Disputes Board and participates in local bar groups in Charleston and Birmingham. He is also involved in industry and cross-disciplinary groups such as BioNTX, and he has served as Vice-President of Tide in Texas since 2022.
Colleagues describe him as methodical and focused on practical outcomes rather than headline cases. He maintains a practice that bridges prosecution and client counseling, handling filings before the USPTO and advising on strategies to protect and enforce intellectual property rights. He currently practices intellectual property law at Nordan Licensing, handling patent, trademark and related matters.
