About Olga
Olga Izmaylova studied political science before turning to law. She earned a B.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University in 2009 and completed her legal education at the University of Miami School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 2012. Her academic record set the stage for a career in criminal defense in Georgia.
She began her legal work as an assistant public defender with the Georgia Public Defender Council in 2012. In that role she represented clients facing a range of criminal charges and gained courtroom experience early in her career. The public defender work exposed her to both misdemeanor and felony matters and to the practical demands of trial preparation and client advocacy.
In 2017 she moved into private practice and took on a leadership role as managing partner at Atlanta Criminal Defense Team | Sabbak & Izmaylova, P.C. That change placed her in charge of case strategy, client intake and courtroom representation within the firm. Her work in private practice built on the trial experience she developed at the public defender’s office and expanded the types of cases handled by the firm.
Outside the courtroom she is involved in several professional organizations. She holds memberships in the National Academy of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the American Institute of Criminal Law Lawyers, the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and The National Trial Lawyers, each since 2017. She has been associated with Super Lawyers and America’s Top 100 since 2018. She is also a member of the North Fulton Bar Association and, for a period between 2017 and 2018, the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers. These affiliations reflect ongoing engagement with the criminal defense community and legal colleagues across the state.
Colleagues describe her as experienced in managing the day-to-day demands of a criminal defense practice, including client counseling, pretrial motions and trial work. She is comfortable in contested hearings and jury trials, and she continues to handle cases across the spectrum of state criminal charges. She maintains an active practice in Georgia and balances casework with the administrative duties of running a firm.
She practices at Atlanta Criminal Defense Team | Sabbak & Izmaylova, P.C., where she handles criminal defense matters in Georgia.
