About Norma
Norma Duenas learned the law in Southern California and has built a steady practice since finishing law school. She earned her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in 2003. That education provided a foundation in litigation and consumer law that shaped her early career.
After law school Duenas began practicing in California. Early roles sharpened her courtroom skills and client counseling. In 2009 she became lead lawyer at Southern California Law Advocates, a position that put her in charge of case strategy and client intake for a busy practice. That role involved both courtroom work and guiding less experienced attorneys through complex filings.
Over the years Duenas’s work has concentrated on consumer bankruptcy and related consumer protection matters. She joined the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Lawyers in 2015 and has maintained that membership since. The association connects bankruptcy practitioners and offers ongoing education; Duenas has used those resources to keep abreast of changes in bankruptcy law and procedure. In 2021 she added membership in Wealth Counsel, reflecting an interest in estate planning issues that sometimes overlap with debtor counseling.
Her career combines litigation experience with practical client service. She has handled adversary proceedings and routine bankruptcy filings, and she has counseled individuals about options under Chapters 7 and 13. Her practice has required frequent appearances in California bankruptcy courts and collaboration with trustees, creditors’ counsel, and financial advisers. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. Clients have relied on her to explain complex paperwork in plain terms.
Duenas works across several Southern California locations. She maintains offices in Los Angeles, Temecula, Santa Ana and Riverside, and divides her time among them depending on case needs and court schedules. That geographic spread allows her to serve clients in multiple counties without long travel for initial consultations.
Outside the office she follows developments in bankruptcy jurisprudence and participates in professional seminars offered through her associations. She does not claim a single specialty outside the areas she practices; instead, she applies courtroom experience and association resources to advise clients on debt relief, creditor negotiation, and estate matters when relevant.
She currently practices from offices in Los Angeles, Temecula, Santa Ana and Riverside, concentrating on consumer bankruptcy and related consumer protection issues.
