About Nolia G
Nolia G Batey pursued a steady course through law and public service before settling into private practice. She earned a B.A. in political science and sociology from Western Kentucky University in 2010. She later completed a J.D. at the University of Louisville in 2015 and returned to the classroom to receive an LL.M. in Animal Law from Lewis & Clark Law School in 2023.
Her early work in legal settings dates back to a role as a case manager at Crocker Law Office in 2007. That hands-on exposure to casework came before and alongside her formal legal studies. While a law student she took on internships that exposed her to corporate compliance and federal tax practice. In 2013 she served as a legal and compliance intern at Churchill Downs Incorporated. In 2015 she was a legal extern in the Internal Revenue Service Office of Chief Counsel.
After finishing law school she moved into private practice and, in 2015, became a partner at Batey Brophy & O Dea, PLLC. She has been part of the firm’s team handling matters in Kentucky courts and in federal courts located in the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Her court admissions reflect those jurisdictions.
Batey maintains active ties to professional organizations. She holds memberships in the American Association for Justice, the Kentucky Justice Association, the American Bar Association, and the Louisville Bar Association. Those affiliations place her in regular contact with trial lawyers, state bar colleagues, and national legal networks.
The LL.M. she completed in 2023 broadened her academic exposure to animal law issues. That program added a layer of specialized study to the practical training she accumulated in prior roles. The combination of advanced coursework and early experience in governmental and corporate legal settings informs how she approaches cases and client matters.
Colleagues and clients encounter a lawyer who has navigated government offices, corporate compliance departments, and private-firm practice. Her trajectory shows a mix of classroom study, internships, and steady practice experience. She continues to serve as a partner at Batey Brophy & O Dea, PLLC, where she practices in Kentucky and in the federal courts of the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.
Her current practice concentrates on matters brought in state and federal courts in Kentucky.
