About Nicole Deese
Nicole Deese Newlon trained first as a business student and then as a lawyer. She earned a J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 2004. Before law school she completed an M.B.A. at the University of South Florida in 1997 and a B.A. in Finance from the same university in 1995. The combination of business and legal education shapes how she approaches client matters.
Her legal career began in 2004 at Fowler White Boggs Banker, where she worked as an associate. Early work there exposed her to litigation and transactional matters that involved both corporate clients and individual claimants. She moved into a partnership role in 2007 at Shutts & Bowen, a step that expanded her responsibilities to include supervising junior attorneys and managing more complex files.
Over time Newlon built a practice that touches both state and federal work. She is licensed in Florida and is admitted to the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. Those admissions allow her to appear in a wide range of proceedings. Her courtroom experience and familiarity with appellate practice inform how she prepares cases at the trial level.
Outside the office she is active in bar and civic groups. She holds membership in the American Bar Association and has been a member of the Federal Bar Association since 2006. Locally, she belongs to the Hillsborough County Bar Association. Community involvement includes service on the Academy At The Farm PTO Board since 2018 and membership in Dade City Rotary since 2015. She also joined Empowering Pascos Veterans in 2019 and remains involved there.
Colleagues describe her work as steady and pragmatic. She has taken on supervisory and leadership tasks in firm settings and balanced those duties with client work. That balance shows in how she prepares matters, often emphasizing practical resolution while preserving clients’ legal rights.
Newlon practices at Johnson Newlon & DeCort P.A., where she handles matters that proceed in Florida courts and in the federal system. She continues to be active in professional associations and local organizations while maintaining an active practice focused on matters in Florida state and federal courts.
