About Nicholas
Nicholas Morrow trained in Texas and has built a practice that spans state and federal maritime work. He earned his B.A. at the University of Texas at Austin and returned to Austin to receive his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law. Those academic years placed him in the state’s legal and commercial center at a formative time for admiralty and energy litigation.
After law school he entered private practice in Texas. He is admitted to practice in Texas and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Over the years he has handled matters that arise under admiralty law and related state-law claims, appearing in both trial and appellate settings when cases require it. He belongs to the Maritime Law Association and participates in its programs and committees.
At Morrow & Sheppard LLP he works on cases involving maritime commerce and civil litigation tied to seaborne trade. His role at the firm involves briefing and arguing motions, preparing litigation strategy, and coordinating discovery in matters that often cross state and federal lines. The work spans routine contract disputes to complex claims that implicate maritime statutes and federal jurisdictional questions.
His practice requires familiarity with the procedural rules of federal courts and the particular doctrines that govern admiralty cases. He has filed and responded to appeals before the Fifth Circuit and manages litigation in Texas state courts when matters fall outside exclusive federal admiralty jurisdiction. Colleagues describe him as methodical; clients expect a lawyer who understands both maritime norms and the mechanics of litigation.
Outside the courtroom he maintains a presence in professional circles centered on maritime law. That involvement keeps him current on developments in maritime regulations, cargo claims, and insurance issues that affect clients involved in ocean and inland water transportation. He takes part in association meetings and contributes to discussions that address changes in law and practice.
As of 2026 he practices at Morrow & Sheppard LLP and concentrates on maritime and admiralty litigation in Texas and before the Fifth Circuit.
