About Nicholas James

Nicholas James Ingrassia built a legal path that starts in Buffalo and extends beyond state lines. He studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo and earned his J.D. from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2013. The year he finished law school also marks the start of his recorded involvement in the local bar community.

Soon after graduation, Ingrassia joined the Erie County Bar Association, where he has maintained membership since 2013. That affiliation placed him in regular contact with other lawyers and court personnel in the Western New York legal community. Over time he added credentials that reflect work both inside and outside the United States, a less common trajectory for attorneys who begin their careers in regional practice.

His admissions include the New York state bar and federal jurisdiction. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Western District of New York and the U.S. Tax Court. He also holds recognition as a Foreign Legal Consultant in Ontario, Canada. Those qualifications allow him to handle matters that touch state law, federal courts and certain cross-border issues between New York and Ontario.

Ingrassia practices at Gross Shuman P.C., a firm based in the Buffalo region. Records show his professional base there, and his courtroom appearances have included filings in the federal district and tax courts. Colleagues describe his background as grounded in the local legal framework while extending into federal practice and matters that implicate Canadian jurisdictions. He has continued to participate in the Erie County Bar Association, keeping ties to the bench and bar in Erie County.

He has combined a local legal education and early bar involvement with broader admissions that enable appearances in both federal trial and tax forums and as a consultant in Ontario. That blend of credentials supports a practice centered on litigated and advisory matters that intersect the jurisdictions in which he is licensed. Currently he practices law at Gross Shuman P.C., handling matters in the jurisdictions to which he is admitted.
