About Nicholas James

Nicholas James Casper is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 2006. His license is currently in active status. Mr. Casper is a managing partner at Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook, a law firm located at 2121 North California Boulevard, Suite 1020, Walnut Creek, California. He has been practicing law for over 19 years, serving clients throughout the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

Mr. Casper earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2006. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of California, Los Angeles, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 2001. During his time at USF Law, he received the CALI Award for Excellence in Legal Research & Writing and was recognized for Best Oral Argument in Moot Court. He also served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Mark Simons of California’s First District Court of Appeal.

Mr. Casper concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury law, products liability, and civil rights. He represents individuals and businesses in matters involving wrongful death, catastrophic injury, products liability, child sexual abuse, and civil rights violations. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts. Notably, he obtained a $9 million settlement in a premises liability case and a $3.2 million settlement in a truck-vs.-pedestrian wrongful death case.

Throughout his career, Mr. Casper has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of Contra Costa, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California. He has also appeared before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to joining Casper, Meadows, Schwartz & Cook, he worked as an associate attorney at a personal injury law firm in San Francisco.

Mr. Casper is an active member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, having served as its Board President in 2015 and on the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2016 and in 2019. He has also been on the Board of Governors of the Alameda-Contra Costa Trial Lawyers’ Association since 2010. He is a member of the State Bar of California and has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer from 2017 to 2026, including being named to the Top 100 Northern California Super Lawyers list in 2020. Mr. Casper is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of the San Francisco Bay Area effectively.
