About John Scott
John Scott Isherwood is a attorney based in Walnut Creek, California, specializing in personal injury, business law, real estate law, and landlord-tenant disputes. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis, in 1988. Following his undergraduate studies, he worked as an economist in the pricing and contracts division at Northrop Grumman, a Fortune 500 aerospace firm in Southern California. In 1995, he graduated with distinction from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he was on the Dean’s Honor List all three years and was admitted to the Traynor Honor Society. After law school, Mr. Isherwood joined a prominent San Francisco law firm as a law clerk, assisting attorneys in complex toxic tort and product defect litigation. He was admitted to the California State Bar in December 1995.
Over the next decade, he handled many cases, including multi-million dollar contract disputes, real property conflicts, construction defect litigation, toxic tort defense, and both plaintiff and defense personal injury matters. He developed expertise in dispute resolution and litigation practice and procedure, taking hundreds of cases from inception through successful completion and trying cases to jury verdict. In 2007, Mr. Isherwood founded the Law Offices of J. Scott Isherwood to offer personalized litigation and consultation services in an efficient, cost-effective manner. His practice focuses on commercial, business, and real estate litigation, providing general dispute resolution services to individuals, community associations, and small and mid-sized businesses. He is active in the local American Inn of Court and the Contra Costa Bar Association.
In October 2016, he was elected to the Executive Committee of the Robert G — McGrath American Inn of Court. Outside of his legal practice, Mr. Isherwood is an avid fly fisher and has been recognized as one of the top 10 fly casting casters in the world. He has traveled from Alaska to Chile to participate in fly casting tournaments and serves as a volunteer fly casting and fly tying instructor. He is a member of the Oakland Casting Club and Grizzly Peak Fly Fishers. Mr. Isherwood resides in Contra Costa County with his wife and three children.
