About Nicholas
Nicholas Emerson grew up in Chicago-area academic circles and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2014. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School in 2017. Those years shaped his early legal training and set the stage for a courtroom-oriented practice.
After law school, Emerson entered the Illinois bar and began building his practice. He joined Levin & Perconti, where he has worked on cases originating in Illinois courts. His work at the firm has involved the everyday demands of litigation: drafting pleadings, managing discovery, preparing motions, and participating in pretrial hearings. He has worked alongside more senior lawyers on complex files while taking responsibility for discrete components of cases.
Emerson’s courtroom experience has come through hands-on matters at the trial-court level. He has appeared in court for procedural hearings and client conferences, and he has been involved in settlement negotiations. Colleagues and supervising attorneys have relied on him to analyze case law, prepare factual chronologies, and organize documentary evidence for hearings. He brings methodical preparation to each matter, and he is comfortable moving files from intake toward resolution.
His academic background informs several practical strengths. The University of Illinois at Chicago gave him a foundation in research and writing, which he expanded during his time at The John Marshall Law School. At law school he sharpened legal analysis and learned the mechanics of advocacy. Those skills carry through to his day-to-day tasks: preparing written submissions, counseling clients about procedural steps, and coordinating with experts and opposing counsel.
Emerson practices in Illinois courts and handles civil litigation matters for clients at Levin & Perconti. He has focused on the procedural and evidentiary aspects of cases, working to marshal facts and prepare matters for disposition. He aims to keep clients informed and to move cases efficiently through the judicial process.
As of 2026, Emerson remains an attorney at Levin & Perconti, practicing in Illinois and representing clients in civil litigation matters.
