About Nicholas B.
Nicholas B. Grossman has built a steady, courtroom-centered practice over more than a decade. He appears in California courts and in federal venues up to the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials mark a practice that spans trial work and appellate advocacy.
Grossman began his legal career in 2009 at the Law Office of Frank R. Sariol, PC. He spent the next year at Tobin Lucks, LLP before joining the Law Offices of Mark H. Shafer & Associates in 2011. The sequence represents traditional associate work in small and mid-sized firms, where he handled case preparation, client counseling and courtroom appearances. In 2018 he became a shareholder at Shafer, Grossman & Rupp, APLC, a role that reflects a transition from associate to firm leadership and expanded responsibility for case direction.
He maintains memberships in local legal organizations. Since 2009 he has been listed with the Orange County Bar Association and the Orange County Trial Lawyers Association. Those long-running affiliations indicate ongoing ties to the local bench and bar and regular participation in continuing legal education and professional events.
Courtroom experience runs through Grossman’s resume. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit and the state courts of California. That combination covers the full range from trial-level proceedings to federal appellate practice and, on occasion, filings in the nation’s highest court. Colleagues describe him as practical in court preparation and methodical in pursuing appellate angles when cases advance beyond trial.
At Shafer, Grossman & Rupp, APLC he works alongside fellow litigators on matters that require both trial readiness and appellate planning. His daily work mixes motions, hearings and client conferences with drafting appellate briefs when cases proceed to higher courts. He balances courtroom deadlines with the administrative duties that come from being a shareholder, including mentoring younger lawyers and helping to manage firm caseloads.
He continues to live and work in Orange County and remains active in the local legal community. As of 2026 he practises at Shafer, Grossman & Rupp, APLC, handling matters in California and federal courts, including the Ninth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
