About Nicholas Alexander
Nicholas Alexander Coulson took a deliberate path into the courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Oakland University in 2008 and completed his J.D. at the University of Minnesota Law School in 2013. Those years set the stage for a practice built around courtroom work and professional association.
He began his practical training in 2012 when he joined Liddle Sheets Coulson P.C. as a law clerk. Over time he moved through the firm’s ranks, serving as an associate and later as a partner. That long stretch at the same firm gave him sustained exposure to case preparation, motion practice and trials. In 2024 he took on the role of Principal Lawyer at Coulson P.C., where he leads a small practice based in Michigan.
Coulson’s professional development has been steady and intentional. He completed the Gerry Spence Method at Thunderhead Ranch in 2022, graduating from the three-week trial college and joining the Ranch Club. He also holds memberships in the American Association for Justice since 2016, the Michigan Association for Justice since 2017, and the Federal Bar Association since 2019. These affiliations underscore a professional life spent around trial lawyers and litigation practice.
Colleagues describe him as methodical in trial preparation and straightforward in court. He has handled a range of courtroom tasks from discovery strategy to oral argument. His years at Liddle Sheets Coulson P.C. covered roles that required both case management and hands-on advocacy, and his move to lead Coulson P.C. signaled a shift to managing both client work and the business side of a law practice.
Coulson balances courtroom time with continuing education and bar-related activities. He attends trial workshops and takes part in professional gatherings that concentrate on effective advocacy. The Gerry Spence program is a notable part of that regimen, and he maintains active memberships in organizations that center on litigation practice.
He practices in Michigan and handles matters that require courtroom skills and procedural knowledge. He currently focuses his practice on litigation and trial work in Michigan.
