About Nicholas A.

Nicholas A. Black built his path to law through a steady progression of degrees and early legal work. He earned a B.A. in Communication from Clemson University in 2002, followed by an M.B.A. in 2004. He completed his J.D. at the University of Tennessee in 2008.

He entered the legal world in a support role and moved quickly into substantive work. In 2004 he worked as a runner at Kramer Rayson LLP. The next year he served as a law clerk at O Neil, Parker & Williamson PLLC, gaining courtroom and office experience that would shape his practice.

After finishing law school he began practicing under his own name. In 2008 he established the Law Office of Nicholas A. Black and handled matters as a solo practitioner. That initial period gave him direct client contact and responsibility for case management from intake through resolution.

In 2009 he joined Ralls & Wooten as a lawyer. The firm later became Ralls Wooten & Black in 2015, reflecting a continuing presence in the local legal community. Those years included litigation work and courtroom appearances on behalf of clients in Tennessee.

Black has been active in bar organizations since early in his career. He has been a member of the Tennessee Bar Association since 2008. He has also been involved with the Blount County Bar Association for many years, serving as its president from 2016 to 2017 and holding leadership roles in the association’s Young Lawyers Division in the mid-2010s.

Colleagues describe him as straightforward in court and methodical in preparation. He handles the practical tasks of running a small practice alongside client work. Over time he has kept a hands-on approach to files and remained engaged in local bar affairs.

He continues to practice in Tennessee from the Law Office of Nicholas A. Black. His current practice is focused on representing clients in matters before Tennessee state courts and providing direct legal counsel at the county level.
