About Neysa Jo

Neysa Jo Borkert brings two distinct academic threads together: a study of human behavior and a legal education. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Florida in 2001 and went on to receive her J.D. from the same university in 2004. That combination shapes how she approaches clients and cases.

Her years at the University of Florida framed her thinking about conflict, decision-making and persuasion. The psychology degree gave her tools for listening and assessing people. Law school added training in analysis, advocacy and the mechanics of the courtroom. Those elements remain part of how she practices today.

After completing her legal education, she established her practice in Florida, the jurisdiction where she is admitted to practice. Over time she has handled matters that required careful preparation, clear client communication and steady courtroom presence when necessary. She has experience preparing pleadings, negotiating on behalf of clients and managing the practical details that keep a case moving.

Colleagues describe her as pragmatic and methodical. She tends to break complex problems into discrete steps and to map each step back to the client’s goals. That methodical approach draws on both her legal training and her undergraduate background in psychology. It also informs how she prepares witnesses and explains legal options to people who are not familiar with the process.

Her file work reflects an emphasis on organization. She aims to give clients understandable options and to be realistic about risks and timelines. When a case requires advocacy in court, she focuses on clarity and on telling a coherent story to judges and juries. Outside of hearings, she spends time on negotiation and case management to move matters toward resolution when that best serves a client’s interest.

Peers note that she values direct communication. She prefers conversations that get to the heart of an issue rather than ones that circle around it. That style is consistent whether she is drafting legal documents, preparing a hearing, or meeting with a client for the first time.

She continues to practice law in Florida and draws on her combined legal and psychological background in her current work.
