About Neil
Neil Burns took a conventional route into the law. He earned a B.A. from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 1980 and completed his J.D. at UDC David A. Clarke School of Law in 1985. Those credentials anchored a career practiced in Massachusetts courts and legal communities.
His early years after law school are not part of the public record here, but his education ties him to both upstate New York and Washington, D.C., where he completed his legal training. Over time he established a private practice under his own name. He now serves as partner at The Law Office of Neil Burns, operating out of Massachusetts.
Burns has remained active in professional circles. He holds current memberships in the American Association for Justice, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Boston Bar Association. He is also a member of the National Lawyers Guild. Those affiliations place him in contact with peers across civil and criminal practice areas, and with the broader bar in the state.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with him describe an attorney who prioritizes clear communication. He takes time to explain procedures and options in plain language. He also attends association meetings and continuing-education programs, a regular part of the calendar for many practicing lawyers.
His practice is run from a small firm bearing his name. As partner he manages client matters and oversees aspects of firm operations. The work involves courtroom appearances, client counseling and case preparation. He maintains ties to the local bar and to organizations that concentrate on litigation and civil justice.
Outside the office he has remained engaged with the legal community in Massachusetts through bar activities and association participation. That involvement provides regular contact with colleagues, access to new developments in case law and opportunities to discuss practice issues.
Burns approaches his day-to-day legal work from the standpoint of a seasoned practitioner. He balances case work with the administrative duties of running a small firm. He continues to serve clients in Massachusetts as partner at The Law Office of Neil Burns.
