About Neena
Neena Speer began her academic path with a dual undergraduate program at Howard University, completing a B.S. in Psychology and a B.A. in French in 2014. While in college she spent a summer at Harvard Business School in a venture management program in 2013. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor at the University of Alabama School of Law in 2017.
Her early career moved quickly from classroom to courtroom and office. By 2018 she had joined the Alabama State Bar and launched her own practice as principal of Neena R. Speer Law Office LLC. That same year she was identified as an award-winning trademark lawyer, a designation that accompanied the opening of her firm. The firm operates out of Alabama and serves clients in trademark matters alongside other legal needs typical of a solo practice.
Speer’s background combines intellectual property concerns and community-oriented legal work. She holds GAL certification through the Alabama Administration of Courts, a credential she has maintained while balancing private practice responsibilities. Her membership roster reads as a reflection of varied interests: the Alabama State Bar, the Alabama Lawyers Association, the Birmingham Bar Association and the Magic City Bar Association. She has taken on committee work in many of those organizations, including public service and diversity roles in Birmingham and a stint as Community Relations Chair for the Magic City Bar Association.
Her bar and association work has mixed committee assignments and event organization. She chaired the Public Service Committee for the Birmingham Bar Association in 2019 and served on its CLE Committee in 2020. She also participated on the Alabama Lawyers Association Law Student Reception Committee in 2019–2020 and spent time on the Alabama State Bar Indigent Defense and Representation Committee in 2019–2020. Those positions reflect recurring engagement with legal education, access to counsel and community outreach.
