About Natalia

Natalia Derin studied law across two continents. She completed a Bachelor in Jurisprudence at the Moscow Academy of Economic & Law in 1997 and a Master in Jurisprudence at the Moscow State University of Humanities/Institute of Law in 1999. Several years later she added an American law degree, earning an LL.M. from Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in 2006.

Her educational path reflects training in both Russian and U.S. legal traditions. That background shaped the early steps of her career as she moved from academic study into professional practice. After completing her LL.M., she established a practice in New York and became a member of the New York State Bar in 2008.

Derin is a member of the New York State Bar and holds membership in the New York State Trial Lawyers Association. Those affiliations place her among attorneys who work in state courts and who engage with trial practice issues. She has maintained her bar membership continuously since 2008 and participates in the professional networks that support litigators and courtroom lawyers.

Her career has been steady rather than flashy. She has combined the analytic training of Russian legal education with the procedural and substantive law she studied in the United States. Colleagues describe her approach as methodical: she pays attention to statutory detail and to procedural posture. Clients benefit from her ability to explain complex legal points in clear terms and to manage the paperwork and deadlines that shape litigation and transactional work.

Outside formal memberships, Derin’s trajectory shows a lawyer who bridged two legal cultures. The LL.M. program she completed in 2006 gave her exposure to U.S. practice norms and to courses in American jurisprudence. Her earlier degrees ground her in a different set of legal doctrines and analytical traditions. She draws on both backgrounds when assessing cases and advising clients on strategy.

She maintains an active license in New York and continues to practice in the state. Her practice centers on legal matters that arise in New York, where she applies her bilingual education and transnational legal perspective to client work.
