About Nancy E.
Nancy E. Miller combined a career in human resources with a later turn into law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in French from Pacific Union College in 1991 and added a Master of Science in Human Resource Management from Golden Gate University in 2009. She completed her Juris Doctor at Concord Law School in 2015.
Her professional path began in payroll and human resources. In 1996 she worked for Paychex, Inc., in both Sacramento and Denver, handling payroll and HR responsibilities. That background led to a role at Martensen Wright PC in 2010, where she served as a legal assistant and human resources manager. She remained with the firm and began working as a lawyer there in 2015.
In 2019 she opened The Law Office of Nancy E. Miller and has practiced under that name since. She is authorized to practice in California and is also a commissioned Notary Public through the California Secretary of State. From 2016 to 2019 she volunteered as a lawyer with Capital Pro Bono Inc., bringing her combined HR and legal skills to pro bono matters.
Outside of paid work she has been active in educational and community programs related to law. She was a mock trial scorer for the Constitutional Rights Foundation from 2016 through 2021. Since 2021 she has coached the mock trial team at Justin-Siena High School in Napa, helping high school students prepare for courtroom-style competitions. Earlier in her career she held a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) credential through the Society for Human Resource Management from 2005 through 2021.
Her experience spans administrative systems, employment-related processes and the daily demands of running a small legal practice. At Martensen Wright she moved from administrative and HR duties into the lawyer role, an evolution that informs how she approaches client matters. The mix of payroll, HR and firm-side experience gives her a practical perspective on legal problems that touch personnel and business operations.
She manages a solo practice in California, handling matters that reflect her background in human resources and firm practice. Her current work addresses legal issues that intersect with employment and business matters.
