About Mysty Blalock
Mysty Blalock Blagg began an uncommon path to the law. She earned a B.S. in Zoology from North Carolina State University in 1992, then completed a B.S. in Dental Hygiene at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1996. After a period outside the legal world she returned to school and received her J.D. from Campbell Law School in 2017.
She entered the legal profession as a law clerk in 2019 at The Law Offices of John McCabe, where she handled research and drafting tasks that supported trial preparation. In 2021 she moved into associate positions, spending time at both Poyner Spruill, LLP and Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz, PC. Those roles expanded her experience in firm practice and client representation. In 2023 she joined Shipman & Wright, LLP as an associate, a role she holds today.
Blagg is admitted to practice in both North Carolina and South Carolina. She became a member of the North Carolina State Bar in 2021 and joined the South Carolina Bar in 2022. Those admissions allow her to appear before state tribunals in both jurisdictions and to advise clients whose matters cross state lines.
Her background combines scientific and health-related undergraduate training with legal education and courtroom work. That mixture informs how she approaches factual development and evidence. Colleagues describe her as methodical in preparing files and attentive to detail when assembling records, deposition excerpts and exhibits.
Within firm settings she has taken on responsibility for drafting pleadings, conducting legal research and supporting discovery. Her early clerkship experience gave her exposure to litigation mechanics, and subsequent associate roles introduced her to the demands of client counseling under tight deadlines. She has worked on matters that required coordination among practitioners and specialists across offices.
Outside of casework she maintains active standing in the state bars and participates in routine bar-related activities. Her professional record shows steady movement from clerkship to associate roles across regional firms, culminating in her current post at Shipman & Wright, LLP. She practices as an associate attorney in matters arising in North Carolina and South Carolina.
