About Brandon James

Brandon James Huffman combines a background in journalism with a law degree. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2008 and received his Juris Doctor from Ohio State University in 2011. Those early years set the tone for a career at the intersection of media and the law.

After law school he entered practice at a time when digital platforms and traditional outlets were redefining how legal issues in media emerged. He is admitted to practice in North Carolina and Florida and is also admitted to the bar of the U.S. Supreme Court. Those credentials have allowed him to handle matters that range from courtroom filings to regulatory questions and to advise clients operating across state lines.

Huffman practices at Odin Law and Media, where he works on disputes and counseling that involve media, communications, and related commercial matters. His training in journalism gives him a practical grasp of how newsrooms and content producers operate. That background informs how he assesses risk and prepares written advocacy for publishers, broadcasters, and other content creators.

Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who thinks in clear, direct terms. He writes plainly and pushes for concise records. In litigation he prioritizes documentary work and careful pleadings. In transactional and counseling matters he looks for ways to translate complex regulatory regimes into usable guidance for clients. He also handles pre-publication review and responds to defamation and privacy concerns when they arise.

Huffman maintains memberships in professional organizations related to the practice of law and media. He participates in bar activities in the jurisdictions where he is licensed and has argued matters that require familiarity with both state and federal standards. His admissions, including to the U.S. Supreme Court, allow him to represent clients in a broad array of forums when cases escalate beyond local courts.

He is based at Odin Law and Media and divides his time between litigation, counseling, and editorial-review work for clients in the media and communications sectors. His current practice centers on advising and defending media entities and individuals on legal issues tied to publishing, broadcasting, and online content.
