About Murray

Murray Eckell earned his J.D. from Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law in 1959. He entered the profession at a time of steady change in the legal landscape. The year of his degree marks the start of a long career in Pennsylvania law.

He began as an associate at Snyder and Snyder. That early period was formative. He went on to help found Eckell & Sparks. Later he was a founding partner of a larger firm that grew under his name: Eckell, Sparks, Levy, Auerbach, Monte, Sloane, Matthews & Auslander, P.C. Those moves show a path from junior associate to firm leadership. They also reflect a practice built around private firm work and management.

Alongside private practice, he took on teaching. He served as an adjunct professor at Penn State University, Delaware County Campus. That role placed him in the classroom while he continued to handle cases and firm responsibilities. It kept him involved with the next generation of lawyers and with local legal education.

Eckell maintains active ties to the local legal community. He holds membership in the Delaware County Bar Association. He is also connected to the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania through its Disciplinary Board. Those associations place him in the institutions that shape professional standards and local practice in Pennsylvania.

Colleagues describe a lawyer who has spent decades navigating the demands of running a firm and representing clients. He has experience in firm formation and governance, and in the day-to-day practice issues that come with private law practice. Over time his firm expanded its roster and practice structure, reflecting a mix of client work and the administrative tasks of a multi-partner office.

He practices under the banner of the firm that carries his name and the names of his partners. He maintains offices in Media and West Chester, where he meets clients and manages matters. Those offices serve as the base for his work in the region. He has looked after client matters and participated in bar activities while balancing teaching duties.

He continues to practice law in Pennsylvania, focusing on private practice and legal education activities from his offices in Media and West Chester.
