About Ms. Stacey Erin
Ms. Stacey Erin Burke combined a newsroom education with legal training. She earned a Bachelor of Journalism in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin (1997) and later received a Juris Doctor from the University of Houston Law Center (2001). The mix of reporting and law has shaped how she communicates in and out of the courtroom.
Her early legal work included time as a lawyer at Schechter, McElwee, Shaffer & Harris, LLP beginning in 2008. That period gave her steady experience in firm practice and in handling client-facing matters. She moved into roles that broadened her practice and her professional network over the next few years.
In 2010 she founded her own firm, Stacey E. Burke, P.C. The following year she began serving of counsel to Watts Guerra LLP, a role she has maintained while running her own office. That combination of firm affiliation and solo practice has allowed her to manage individual client matters while participating in larger team efforts on more complex cases.
She is admitted to practice in Texas and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. Burke keeps an active profile in professional organizations. She holds memberships in the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association and the Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit. She has also been involved with the American Association for Justice since 2011 and holds leadership roles in local trial lawyer groups. Since 2010 she has served on the Board of Directors of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, including a term as Vice President and work as Communications Co-Chair.
Her background in journalism and public relations informs how she handles case strategy and client communication. She participates in marketing and communications circles through memberships in the American Marketing Association, the Houston Interactive Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America. Burke is also active in several groups that focus on women in the profession, including the Federation of Houston Professional Women, the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Women Lawyers.
Those professional ties reflect both practice and outreach. Colleagues point to her steady presence in trial lawyer organizations and civic groups such as The Montrose Society. Her career has moved between courtroom work, firm collaboration and running a small firm practice.
Her current practice focuses on litigation and trial work, handling matters through pretrial processes, trials and appellate filings as required.
