About Ms. Rachel

Ms. Rachel VanHorn earned her J.D. from Florida State University College of Law in 2005 after completing a B.A. in economics and sociology at the University of Virginia in 2001. Her academic path combined social science and quantitative study, a pairing that informed how she approached legal problems from the start. Law school coursework and clinic experience exposed her to courtroom procedure and legal writing, elements that would shape the early years of her career.

After law school, VanHorn began practicing in Virginia and expanded her authorization to the federal courts serving the Commonwealth. She is admitted to the Virginia bar and authorized to appear in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. Those admissions have allowed her to carry matters from initial filings through hearings across both state and federal dockets.

Her work involves courtroom appearances, motion practice and client counseling. VanHorn has managed case files, prepared pleadings and taken part in contested proceedings. She has experience working on matters that require familiarity with procedural rules in both state and federal systems. Colleagues note that she balances attention to detail in filings with an awareness of timing and procedure when cases move toward dispositive motions or trial dates.

VanHorn maintains memberships in several professional associations. She is a current member of the Norfolk and Portsmouth Bar Association, the Virginia Bar Association and the American Bar Association. Those affiliations provide venues for continuing legal education and peer exchange. They also keep her connected to developments in court rules and practice standards that affect litigation strategy and client representation.

She practices from the Norfolk office of Glasser and Glasser, PLC. At the firm she handles matters that require appearances in both the state circuit and federal district courts in Virginia. Her current practice involves litigation and court representation across those jurisdictions, handling filings, hearings and trial preparation for clients at the state and federal level.
