About Ms. Nicole L.
Ms. Nicole L. Voigt has a background that crosses science, small business and the law. She began her academic life studying biology and statistics, then moved into legal training. The mix of disciplines shows in the variety of roles she has held since the mid-1990s.
Her formal education includes a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law, awarded in 2000. Before law school she studied environmental, organismic and population biology at the University of Colorado at Boulder and completed undergraduate work in ecology and systematic biology with a minor in statistics at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. Those early years included teaching assistant and research roles in biology and biometry.
Voigt’s professional path took her from the field to the courthouse. After law school she worked as an associate at Bowditch & Dewey, LLP and then at Lawson & Weitzen, LLP. At the same time she kept ties to the business world, serving as business manager and marketing lead at Building History, Inc. in 2001 and later stepping into ownership and publishing with Soaring Moon Books in 2007.
She also built hands-on business experience in construction. In 2006 she became co-owner of Jaeger Historic Building Construction & Fine Carpentry. That period of her career intersects with preservation work and historic building projects, and it informed later transactional and advisory work on construction- and property-related matters.
In 2008 Voigt became a partner at Kilcommons Shanahan, LLC. Her office record later lists Shanahan & Voigt, LLC. In 2009 she taught at the Small Business Development Center at Raritan Valley Community College, bringing practical business guidance to entrepreneurs and small enterprises. She has also served on the Hunterdon County Bar Association’s Committee on Business Development, a role that connects legal practice to local commerce.
Civic involvement runs throughout her résumé. She helped lead local nonprofit and service groups, including founding the Rotary Club of 7510 Horizon and serving as its first president beginning in 2012. She held the presidency of the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners from 2009 to 2012. Voigt has also served on environmental and conservation commissions at the town level and participated in education programs, reflecting her early training in environmental science.
Her career blends courtroom experience, small business advising, publishing and hands-on construction work. That combination shapes how she approaches client matters today. She currently practices at Shanahan & Voigt, LLC and her work centers on business and community-related legal matters.
