About Mr. Walter R. Jackoweic
Mr. Walter R. Jackoweic III built a career that moves across aviation, government contracting and local civic life. He began his higher education studying oceanography at Northeastern Illinois University in 1969, and then pursued dual degrees at Lewis University, earning a B.S. in Aviation Maintenance Management and a B.A. in Business Administration in 1974. He completed his legal training at Northern Illinois University, receiving a Juris Doctor in 1978.
After law school he entered the private sector. In 1979 he worked as a lawyer for Northrop Grumman Corporation, where he handled matters tied to government contracting and corporate operations. Five years later he opened his own practice. Since 1984 he has practiced as a sole practitioner under the name Walter R. Jackowiec III, P.C.
His professional credentials extend beyond the courtroom. He completed training at the Police Training Institute at the University of Illinois and served as a police commissioner in Carol Stream from 1985 to 1992. He also holds a contract administrator credential from the American Graduate University in Washington, D.C. In the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit he is listed as an arbitrator and as a guardian ad litem. He is also licensed in the State of Illinois as a real estate broker.
Those certifications reflect a practice shaped by public service and by procedural work. He has participated in the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Family Violence Coordinating Council and has served on the Cultural Competency Task Force of DuPage County since 2010. He was a director of the DuPage County Bar Foundation from 2010 to 2011. He is active in local bar organizations, including the DuPage County Bar Association, Kane County and Will County bar groups, and he holds memberships in the Illinois State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He is also an Academy of Bar Leaders Fellow.
Outside law, Jackoweic’s interests track back to his undergraduate training in aviation and to maritime pursuits. He is a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and the Association of the Old Crows. He is active in sailing circles and has served as commodore and judge advocate at Reefpoint Marina Yacht Club and as lawyer/judge advocate for the Lake Michigan Yachting Association. Civic affiliations include the Carol Stream Rotary Club and the Bloomingdale Lions Club, where he has served as a director.
His continuing education includes programs at Pepperdine University School of Law and the University of San Francisco School of Law on government contracting topics. He maintains a solo practice at Walter R. Jackowiec III, P.C., handling matters that draw on his arbitration, guardianship, municipal and real estate experience.
