About Mr. Timothy C.

Mr. Timothy C. Carwile began his academic path in Virginia. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Virginia in 1966. He stayed in-state for law school and received his J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law in 1973.

His early career mixed public service and legal aid. In 1974 he served as director of the Legal Aid Society of Greater Lynchburg. The following year he took a post as Assistant Commonwealth’s Lawyer for the City of Waynesboro, a role that placed him in the courtroom and involved him in day-to-day prosecutorial work.

Over time his professional life broadened from those public-facing roles into private practice. He has been admitted to practice in Virginia and before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit. He has maintained active ties to local and state bar organizations. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association. He also held a leadership role at the local level, serving as president of the Augusta County Bar Association from 1988 to 1989.

Courtroom work and service to the legal community have run through his career. His experience at a legal aid organization gave him exposure to client-centered civil work. His time as an assistant commonwealth’s lawyer provided direct trial experience on the prosecution side. Those early roles informed the type of matters he later handled in private practice.

Records show he has practiced under the firm name Allen and Carwile, P.C. The firm listing connects him to ongoing work in the region. He has continued membership in professional organizations that reflect an active involvement in trial practice and the broader legal community.

Colleagues and clients have known him for steady courtroom presence and practical legal judgment rather than public accolades. He has participated locally in bar activities and occasionally assumed leadership responsibilities when called upon.

Now in practice at Allen and Carwile, P.C., he handles matters that draw on his litigation background and years of experience in both public and private roles. His current practice focuses on civil litigation and trial work in Virginia and proceedings before the Fourth Circuit.
