About Mr. Richard I. Kantner
Mr. Richard I. Kantner Jr. earned his J.D. from Regent University School of Law in 1990 after completing a B.A. in political science at Carson-Newman College in 1983. Those formative years shaped a career that has spanned more than three decades and several areas of practice.
He began practicing in the early 1990s and by 1993 was working at the Law Office of Joseph F. Pippen, Jr. & Associates, P.L. A year later he took on an additional role as an agent for the Lawyers Title Insurance Fund, Inc., a position he has maintained since 1994. In 2009 he established The Kantner Law Office, P.L., where he serves as owner and senior lawyer.
Kantner is authorized to practice in Tennessee and Florida and has remained active in local and specialized bars since the start of his career. He joined the Clearwater Bar Association in 1993 and holds membership there to this day. His professional affiliations extend into elder law and guardianship fields. He belongs to the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Academy of Florida Elder Law Attorneys. He is also a member of the Guardian Association of Pinellas County and participates in Better Living for Seniors.
His involvement in bar governance includes long-standing service on the Sixth Judicial Circuit Bar Grievance Committee, where he has been a member since 2008. That role has kept him engaged with disciplinary standards and the administration of professional responsibility matters in his circuit.
Over the years Kantner’s work has blended courtroom practice, transactional matters and administrative responsibilities. The title insurance agent role points to work on real property transactions and closing-related issues. His memberships in elder law organizations and guardianship groups reflect regular engagement with issues that affect older clients: planning, protective proceedings and the legal mechanics that surround long-term care decisions.
Clients and colleagues describe him as thorough in record handling and deliberate in procedural matters. He maintains a practice in Pinellas County and the surrounding region and continues to appear in state courts where required.
As of 2026 he continues to operate The Kantner Law Office, P.L., handling elder law, guardianship, estate planning and title insurance matters.
