About Mr Peter Edward
Mr Peter Edward Bort earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981. He entered the legal profession after law school and built a practice grounded in dispute resolution and cooperative methods. His training at Georgetown set the stage for a long career in mediation and collaborative law.
In 2000 he established Bort Law and around the same time became the owner of MINDFUL DIVORCE. Those moves formalized a practice that pairs traditional legal representation with alternative dispute resolution techniques. Over the years he has combined client counsel with mediator and collaborative roles in family-related matters.
Bort holds membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar and belongs to several county bar associations, including Montgomery, Delaware and Chester counties. He is a member of the Association for Conflict Resolution—Delaware Valley and of the Pennsylvania Council of Mediators. Those memberships reflect steady involvement in the professional communities that shape mediation standards in the state.
His collaborative work is visible in long-term associations. He has been a member of the Collaborative Law Professionals of Southeastern Pennsylvania since 2010 and joined the Bucks County Collaborative Law Group in 2013. From 2007 to 2011 he served on the board of directors of the Montgomery Conflict Mediation Center, taking part in governance and program development there.
Outside legal societies, Bort serves on community boards. Since 2013 he has been a trustee of Dunwoody Retirement Village, a role that mixes oversight duties with community engagement. That position complements his professional interests in dispute resolution and client-centered approaches to problem solving.
Bort runs Bort Law from offices in Media and Norristown. His practice combines direct representation and mediation services, and he works with clients who prefer collaborative or mediated pathways over contentious litigation. Colleagues note his steady engagement in regional bar groups and mediation organizations, where he networks with peers and contributes to practice discussions.
He remains active in Pennsylvania’s legal landscape through professional memberships and local bar activity. He maintains his firm and MINDFUL DIVORCE practice while continuing to participate in collaborative law circles and mediation organizations. He currently practices at Bort Law and MINDFUL DIVORCE, handling divorce mediation and collaborative law matters.
