About Mr. Patrick

Mr. Patrick Donovan earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Rochester in 1993 and went on to receive a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. He began his legal studies at a time when state and local courts were changing rapidly. That classroom training set the stage for work in courtrooms across Massachusetts.

Licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Donovan served as an Assistant District Lawyer in 2005 in the Norfolk County District Lawyer Office. In that role he handled a range of matters on behalf of the office. He worked on cases through arraignment, pretrial proceedings and trial, gaining firsthand courtroom experience and an understanding of local prosecutorial processes.

After his time in the Norfolk County office he moved into private practice. He formed the Law Office of Patrick Donovan and established a practice based in Massachusetts state courts. His prior work as an assistant district lawyer informs how he prepares cases and assesses risk. He represents clients in hearings and trials and handles litigation tasks that require familiarity with courtroom procedure and evidence practice.

Donovan’s approach to cases tends to be straightforward and practical. He emphasizes clear preparation and direct advocacy when matters proceed to hearing. Colleagues describe his courtroom work as methodical, and his files often reflect a focus on tangible case development rather than on theory alone. He has experience managing legal matters from the early stages through resolution, whether by settlement or adjudication.

Today Donovan maintains a solo practice under the Law Office of Patrick Donovan. He works out of Massachusetts and continues to practice in state courts. His current practice focuses on representing clients in matters heard in Massachusetts state court, drawing on earlier prosecutorial experience to inform case strategy and courtroom presentation.
