About Mr. Michael
Mr. Michael Mendez built his legal foundation at two Florida institutions. He earned a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Central Florida in 2002 and a J.D. from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 2004. Membership records show he joined the American Bar Association in 2004 and later the Florida Bar in 2007.
His early career moved quickly into both public service and private practice. In 2007 he served as an assistant public defender with the Law Offices of Robert Wesley in the Ninth Judicial Circuit. That role placed him in front of juries and judges on a steady stream of state criminal matters. The same year he also worked as an associate at Colombo & Hurd, PL, gaining experience in a different practice environment and handling litigation matters typical of a mid-size firm.
Over time Mendez expanded the jurisdictions in which he practices. He is admitted in Florida, appears before the Executive Office for Immigration Review and is authorized in the Middle District of Florida. Those credentials reflect a practice that reaches from state criminal courts to federal immigration proceedings.
He has maintained a steady presence in professional and community organizations. He has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2009. He has served as vice chair of the UCF Legal Knights Alumni Association since 2009 and took on the vice chair role for the City of Orlando Chapter 57 Board in 2011, roles he continues to hold. Those positions tie him to both alumni networks and local civic activity.
Mendez’s background combines courtroom experience from his time as a public defender with procedural work in federal and administrative forums. He appears regularly before immigration courts under the Executive Office for Immigration Review and files matters in the Middle District of Florida. His practice reflects that range: contested hearings, client advocacy in administrative settings, and federal filings when required.
He keeps an office in Orlando and remains active in state and national bar organizations. Today he practices in Orlando, handling immigration and federal court matters alongside work that stems from his criminal defense experience.
