About Mr. Lance T
Mr. Lance T Marshall studied political science at Juniata College and graduated with a B.S. in 1988. He moved on to the Pennsylvania State University’s Dickinson School of Law, earning his J.D. in 1992. Those years on campus shaped his approach to courtroom work. He combined classroom training with an early interest in trial procedure and legal research.
After law school he began building practical experience inside the courthouse. In 1995 he worked as a judicial law clerk for Centre County Court Administration, drafting opinions and helping manage court calendars. That role exposed him to judges’ decision-making and the mechanics of trial court operations. Two years later he served as an assistant at the Chester County Public Defender’s office, representing clients charged with crimes and learning the pressures of trial preparation and client counseling. In 1998 he took a position in the Centre County District Lawyer’s office as an Assistant District Lawyer, gaining experience on the prosecutorial side of criminal cases.
Those early roles gave him a view of the justice system from multiple angles. He spent mornings preparing motions and reviewing evidence, and afternoons in hearings and trials. The combination of clerkship, defense work and prosecution informed his courtroom strategy and clarified how procedure and facts intersect in contested cases.
In 2009 he joined Masorti & Sullivan as an associate. At the firm he took on litigation responsibilities, drafted pleadings, and represented clients at evidentiary hearings. He handled pretrial investigation, arraignments and motion practice, and he continued to appear in county courtrooms. His time at the firm deepened his litigation skills and added civil courtroom exposure to his criminal background.
He holds current memberships in the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Centre County Bar Association. Memberships keep him connected to local colleagues and to developments in criminal and procedural law. They also provide regular continuing legal education and opportunities to discuss practice issues with other practitioners.
Across three decades of practice, Mr. Marshall has worked on both sides of criminal cases and spent time inside the judge’s chambers. That range has influenced how he evaluates cases and advises clients. He currently practices in Centre County and focuses his work on criminal defense and related trial matters.
