About Mr. Kenneth

Mr. Kenneth Avila brings an uncommon combination of technical training and legal education to his work. He began his academic career in engineering, earning a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona in 1979 and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the same institution in 1984. Years later he returned to school and earned a J.D. from California Southern Law School, completing his law degree in 2009.

That sequence shaped his early career. He spent years working in electrical engineering before turning to the law. His engineering background informs the way he approaches technical questions and evidence. When issues hinge on circuitry, standards or technical specifications, he can speak the language of both engineers and lawyers.

After earning his J.D., Avila entered the legal profession and pursued admission to the bar. He is admitted to practice in California and before the Federal Circuit. His practice reflects the two strands of his training: technical matters and the legal procedures that surround them. He has handled matters that require parsing technical records and explaining complex concepts to judges and juries.

Colleagues describe him as methodical in preparing technical exhibits and clear in laying out the technical elements of a case. He takes care to build a factual record that can be understood by nontechnical audiences. That discipline shows in written filings and in courtroom presentations where clear exposition matters as much as technical accuracy.

Avila keeps an office presence in Southern California. He maintains offices in Riverside, Ontario and Redlands, which allow him to serve clients across the region. In those offices he works on litigation and advisory matters that touch on technology, product performance and regulatory standards.

Outside of client work he follows developments in both technology and law. His dual background means he pays attention to changes in technical standards as well as shifts in case law and procedure. That attention helps him anticipate the kinds of questions that will be decisive in a given dispute.

He currently concentrates his practice on cases and matters where technical and legal issues intersect, serving clients through his offices in Riverside, Ontario and Redlands.
