About Matthew James

Matthew James Knez built his academic foundation in writing before he turned to law. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Writing from the University of Redlands in 2003 after beginning his undergraduate studies in 1999. He then enrolled at the University of La Verne College of Law in 2010 and received his J.D. in 2014. Those years shaped how he approaches legal work: careful attention to language and a methodical handling of records and documents.

After law school he entered the California legal community and has been active in state practice. He holds current membership in professional associations that serve lawyers in the region. Over time he moved into private practice where he has handled a range of matters for individuals and businesses. He is admitted to practice in California and has spent his career working with clients under state rules and procedures.

He practices from Knez Law Group, LLP. His work includes counseling clients, preparing written filings and handling negotiations that arise in client matters. He is known among colleagues for concise written advocacy and for breaking complex issues into plain language that clients can understand. Much of his day-to-day practice involves drafting documents, meeting with clients, and managing procedural steps that move files forward in California forums.

Knez's background in English Writing intersects with his legal training. That combination shapes his approach to case preparation and client communication. He prioritizes clarity in pleadings and correspondence, and he pays close attention to factual records and timelines. The result is work that aims to be straightforward and readable for judges, opposing counsel and clients alike.

He continues to work at Knez Law Group, LLP, practicing law in California and serving clients through counseling, document preparation and representation in state matters. He currently focuses his practice on providing legal services to clients in California.
