About Mr. Eric A.
Mr. Eric A. Ballinger built his legal foundation at Gannon University, where he earned a B.A. in history and English literature in 1983. He returned to Atlanta to pursue legal studies, taking his J.D. at Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 1990. He continued at the same school to complete an LL.M. in Litigation in 1993, a credential that signals additional training in trial practice and appellate procedure.
His professional path moved quickly into private practice and community involvement. He became a shareholder in 2002 at The Law Offices of Eric A. Ballinger, LL.M., P.C., the firm that bears his name. Over the years he has maintained admission in multiple jurisdictions, including the State of Georgia, the 11th Circuit, the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court, enabling him to handle matters at trial and on appeal. He is also certified in General Civil Mediation and Domestic Relations Mediation by the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution.
Ballinger has taken on roles beyond the courtroom. He served as president of the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit Bar Association in 1998, and since 2006 he has been a representative on the State Bar of Georgia Board of Governors for the Blue Ridge Judicial Circuit. Those positions reflect sustained involvement in bar governance and local legal affairs. He chairs the board of the Cherokee County DUI/Drug Treatment Court Foundation, a role he has held since 2008, which connects him to court-based treatment and diversion efforts.
Community institutions occupy a similar place in his activities. He sits on the board of the Cherokee County Historical Society and participates on the Leadership Cherokee steering committee. He has been a member of the Canton Optimists since 2008, belongs to the Knights of Columbus, and has held membership in the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce since 1994. Those ties suggest long-term civic engagement in the county where he practices.
His educational background and professional certifications indicate an attorney comfortable at trial, in mediation, and on appeal. He has combined formal litigation study with practical roles in mediation and court programs. He has maintained a private practice structure through the firm he leads, and he has continued service in legal and civic organizations over decades.
Ballinger remains active in practice and in the community. His current practice focuses on litigation and mediation.
