About Mr. David W.T.
Mr. David W.T. Carroll is an attorney based in Columbus, Ohio, with a focus on business law, real estate law, and construction law. His legal career began in 1976, marking over four decades of dedicated service in the Ohio legal community. As a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, he actively engages with fellow legal professionals to promote best practices and uphold the standards of the profession. In 1990, Mr. Carroll earned his Juris Doctor degree from Capital University Law School, graduating cum laude.
His academic achievements included membership in the prestigious Order of the Curia and contributions to the Law Review, where he developed his legal writing and analytical skills. Prior to attending law school, he completed his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1987. This solid educational foundation laid the groundwork for his successful legal career. Currently, Mr. Carroll co-chairs the Corporate & Transactional Practice Group at Bailey Cavalieri LLC. In this role, he leads the firm’s M&A and Transaction Liability practices, representing both public and private companies in a variety of complex transactions. His expertise encompasses mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and reorganizations.
Notably, he serves as outside counsel to a leading specialized managing general underwriter of Transactional Liability Insurance products. In this capacity, he provides invaluable counsel during underwriting and acts as policy counsel for representations and warranties insurance in M&A transactions valued at over one billion dollars. In addition to his corporate work, Mr. Carroll has experience in real estate and construction law. He adeptly handles issues related to construction contracts, construction defects, construction liens, and construction litigation. His counsel extends to commercial real estate matters, including land use, zoning, and mortgages, as well as residential real estate transactions. This diverse expertise allows him to handle the requirements of both business and property law effectively.
Mr. Carroll is deeply involved in various professional organizations. He is a member of the Corporation Law Committee and the Nonprofit Corporations Subcommittee of the Ohio State Bar Association. Additionally, he participates in the Columbus Bar Association's Securities Law Committee. Beyond his professional commitments, he serves on the Board of Directors for the Friends for Life Fund and provides pro bono counsel to numerous charitable organizations. His dedication to the legal field and community service is recognized; in 2024, he was recognized as a "Top Lawyer" by Columbus CEO magazine, highlighting his significant contributions to the legal profession.
