About Mr. David Glenn
Mr. David Glenn Baker brings an unusual academic background to his work in bankruptcy law. He arrived in the profession after an earlier career rooted in music. His pathway into practice is marked more by steady involvement in the bankruptcy bar than by pageantry.
Baker earned a Bachelor of Music in piano and French horn from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock in 1971. He later completed a Master of Arts in Music Education at New York University in 1974. Those credentials framed the first part of his professional life and informed the discipline he later applied to legal practice.
Sometime after his years in music, Baker moved into the legal field and became active in Massachusetts' legal community. He is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and has credentials to appear before the United States Supreme Court and the First Circuit. He joined the Massachusetts State Bar and the Boston Bar Association in 1996, and those memberships continue to the present.
In 1997 Baker served as Of Counsel to the Office of the Chapter 13 Trustee. That role placed him close to the procedural side of consumer bankruptcy cases and gave him recurring contact with trustees, debtors and creditors. He set up a solo practice in 1999 and has operated that office since then. The solo practice has been the primary vehicle for his work for more than two decades.
Baker maintains active memberships in organizations that concentrate on bankruptcy practice. He is a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute and the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys. Those affiliations align with the practical experience he gained at the Chapter 13 Trustee’s office and the types of matters that come through his solo practice.
Colleagues describe Baker as steady and procedural in approach. He tends to handle consumer bankruptcy filings, Chapter 13 plan work and related litigation in the federal and state courts where he is admitted. His career path — from musical training to the courtroom — has left him with a methodical style and an eye for detail in case management.
He continues to maintain a solo practice in Massachusetts that concentrates on bankruptcy and consumer bankruptcy matters.
