About Mr. Daniel M.
Mr. Daniel M. Breen earned his undergraduate degree in economics and international studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2001. He continued his education at The John Marshall Law School, receiving his J.D. in 2006. Those years laid the groundwork for a practice that combines courtroom work and law office management.
After law school he entered private practice and in 2009 opened The Law Offices of Daniel M. Breen, P.C. He is admitted to practice in Illinois and is authorized to appear before the Seventh Circuit. Over time his practice has included both trial-level matters and appellate filings.
Breen has been active in professional organizations since 2010. He serves on the Illinois State Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Law Office Management and Economics and sits on the John Marshall Alumni Board. He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, the Chicago Bar Association and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Those memberships reflect a mix of courtroom interests and involvement in legal community governance.
Colleagues describe Breen as pragmatic in his approach to cases. He prepares for trials and appeals in much the same way: attention to facts, careful briefing and practical courtroom strategy. He has handled matters that required both litigation planning and the administrative oversight of a small firm. His committee work with the Illinois State Bar Association has kept him engaged with issues affecting law practice operations and firm economics.
In addition to case work he has maintained ties to his alma mater through the John Marshall Alumni Board. That role has involved alumni activities and mentoring newer attorneys. It also connects him to the law school’s evolving curriculum and alumni network.
Breen’s career has moved from solo practice toward a firm setting. His office is listed as Breen Goril Law. He continues to represent clients in state and federal court and remains involved in both trial and appellate matters. He currently practices at Breen Goril Law, handling trial and appellate matters in Illinois and before the Seventh Circuit.
