About Mr. Chad William
Mr. Chad William Gulstrom built his legal foundation at the University of Idaho. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice in 1989, adding minors in sociology and psychology. He stayed at the same university for law school and received his J.D. in 1994.
After law school he moved into court work. In 1997 he served as a law clerk for the District Court in Twin Falls, where he handled research and supported judges on a range of matters. The following year he joined the Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office as a deputy prosecutor. That role gave him extensive courtroom exposure and steady trial experience early in his career.
By 2001 he shifted to private practice and became managing partner at Gulstrom, Henson & Roark, PC. He later practiced under the firm name Gulstrom & Govia PC, where he continued to handle contested matters and courtroom work. His practice has spanned public and private roles, giving him perspectives from both sides of criminal cases.
Gulstrom has been active in bar and professional organizations. He has held membership in the Idaho Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2004 and joined the American Bar Association the same year. He took on leadership duties in the Third District Bar Association, serving as vice-president in 2006–2007 and as president in 2007–2008. Those positions put him in a position to work on local rules, continuing legal education and matters affecting practitioners in the district.
Colleagues describe his background as grounded in courtroom practice and community legal work. His years as a prosecutor followed by decades in private practice shaped how he evaluates cases and prepares for trial. He has handled case preparation, hearings and jury trials, and he continues to appear in district and trial courts.
He maintains an active practice based out of Gulstrom & Govia PC. His current work centers on criminal defense and trial litigation, drawing on experience gained in both the prosecutor’s office and private practice.
