About Michelle Y.
Michelle Y. Gurian earned her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law in 2012 after completing a B.S. at Florida International University in 2009. She finished law school the same year she served as a judicial intern to The Honorable Jeffrey R. Levenson at the 17th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. Early courtroom exposure during that internship gave her practical insight into trial procedure and judicial decision-making.
Her career began in small firm and boutique settings. In 2012 she worked at Montes & Associates and gained experience handling client matters at the start of her legal career. She spent time at Brill & Rinaldi, the Law Office in 2015. In 2018 she joined Brais Law Office. Before law school, she completed a legal internship in 2010 at the Law Offices of Cordero, Richardson & Associates, where she supported litigation preparation and client intake work.
Gurian is admitted to practice in Florida and before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Those admissions allow her to handle matters at both the state and federal trial levels. She maintains memberships in several professional organizations, including the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, the Florida Bar Trial Lawyers Section, and the Florida Association for Women Lawyers. Her participation in these groups reflects engagement with peers and continuing legal education.
Her work history shows steady movement through litigation environments and client-facing roles. At each stop she handled tasks common to litigators: research, drafting pleadings, discovery management, and courtroom appearances. Time spent as a judicial intern offered a different perspective, observing how judges assess evidence and rule on pretrial issues. That experience informs how she approaches case strategy and courtroom advocacy.
Colleagues describe her approach as practical and detail-oriented. She balances attention to procedural requirements with direct attention to clients’ immediate needs. Cases handled during her tenure at multiple firms included matters that required coordination across teams and attention to deadlines. In private practice she has continued to refine courtroom practices learned earlier in her career.
She practices at Brais Law Office in Florida and appears in the Southern District of Florida when federal filings or hearings require it. Her current practice addresses matters brought in those jurisdictions.
