About Michelle Maria

Michelle Maria Reyes earned her Juris Doctor from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University in 2017 after completing undergraduate studies in economics at the University of South Florida in 2009. Her academic path moved from a large public university in Florida to a law school on Long Island. The transition shaped both the practical and analytical sides of her work.

She began practicing law soon after earning her degree. In 2018 she opened the Law Office of Michelle Reyes, Esq., PLLC and has led the firm since its founding. That early decision to establish a solo practice set the tone for her career. It allowed her to develop a client-facing practice and to take on matters across multiple jurisdictions.

Reyes is admitted to practice in Florida and Puerto Rico, and she holds admission before the Federal Circuit. Those credentials reflect a practice that crosses state and territorial lines and touches federal matters. She maintains bar memberships and engages with professional groups in ways that connect her to peers and policy discussions.

She holds membership in the American Immigration Lawyers Association, joining that organization in 2021. She also serves as president of the Commission for Cooperative Law at the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Puerto Rico, a role she assumed in 2021 and continues to hold. The commission post places her in a position to work with colleagues on issues that affect cooperative entities and the legal frameworks that govern them in Puerto Rico.

Colleagues describe Reyes as methodical in case preparation and careful in client communication. She blends courtroom awareness with attention to transactional details when matters require it. Her work often requires juggling procedural deadlines in multiple jurisdictions and coordinating filings in federal and territorial fora.

Her practice has a regional footprint. The office handles cases and consultations tied to Florida and Puerto Rico, and appears before federal tribunals when appeals or specialized filings are necessary. Operating a small firm has meant she oversees both legal strategy and the day-to-day management of client files.

She continues to lead the Law Office of Michelle Reyes, Esq., PLLC and maintains professional involvement through the American Immigration Lawyers Association and the Colegio de Abogados y Abogadas de Puerto Rico. She currently handles immigration and cooperative law matters through the Law Office of Michelle Reyes, Esq., PLLC.
