About Michal

Michal Durakiewicz built her legal foundation at two Southern universities. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Language and Literature from Vanderbilt University in 2012. Three years later she graduated from Emory University School of Law with a J.D. in 2015. That combination of liberal arts and law school training shaped a methodical approach to legal problems and a comfort with detailed written work.

Her early years after law school included a short-term contract role at Nelson Mullins Encompass in 2015. The next year she joined Dunn Law Office, where she handled a range of assignments that exposed her to courtroom procedure and client counseling. In 2017 she launched Durak Law and assumed responsibility for managing her own caseload and the business side of a small practice.

Durakiewicz is admitted to practice in Tennessee and in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. She has been a member of the Tennessee State Bar Association since 2015, and she belongs to the Tennessee Defense Lawyers Association. Those memberships keep her plugged into local practice developments and continuing legal education.

Colleagues describe her work as straightforward and focused on practical outcomes. She spends substantial time preparing pleadings and court filings, and she handles hearings and motion practice in state and federal forums. Her background in language and literature also informs her drafting; she tends to favor clear, concise briefs over dense legal prose. Clients who seek a lawyer to handle contested matters in Tennessee courts will find a lawyer used to seeing cases through from filing to resolution.

Running a small firm means Durakiewicz balances courtroom work with client intake and case management. Over the years she has developed routines for case preparation, discovery, and client communication that aim to keep matters moving without unnecessary delay. She continues to participate in local bar activities and professional programs that address developments in litigation practice.

She currently practices at Durak Law and handles litigation and court matters in Tennessee and before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee.
