About Henry

Henry Ambrose built a career that bridges courtroom work and dispute resolution. He studied psychology and sciences at Middle Tennessee State University, earning a B.S. in 1971. He later earned his J.D. from Nashville School of Law. Those years in school shaped his approach to clients and cases. He pays attention to detail and to the human side of conflict.

Early in his legal career Ambrose gained experience at the Office of the 21st District Public Defender. In 2012 he served as an intern and handled pro bono matters there. That time in public defense exposed him to criminal practice and to the pressures of trial work. It also informed his later decisions about how to counsel people facing legal trouble.

In 2014 Ambrose opened Henry Ambrose Law and began serving as both lawyer and mediator. He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and before the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee. He maintains a court-side practice and also sits across the table in mediation rooms. He brings courtroom experience and practical dispute-resolution skills to each file.

Ambrose is listed as a Rule 31 General Civil and Family Mediator by the Supreme Court of Tennessee. His Rule 31 listing includes Special Domestic Violence Training, a credential that reflects additional education on sensitive family and protective-order matters. That training shapes how he conducts mediations where power imbalances or safety concerns are present. He also draws on his criminal-defense background when cases raise related legal questions.

He holds membership in the Tennessee Bar Association and the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations keep him connected to peers who practice in criminal and civil fields across the state. For clients, that network provides a source of referrals and keeps him current on legal developments that affect strategy and case handling.

Ambrose’s practice balances litigation and alternative dispute processes. He accepts matters that require courtroom advocacy and those that can be resolved through mediation. His work spans criminal defense and family-related disputes, where both procedural rules and personal dynamics matter. He continues to practice in Tennessee and before the federal court in the Middle District of Tennessee.

Currently he operates Henry Ambrose Law, offering legal representation and mediation services in matters ranging from criminal defense to family disputes.
