About Michaela

Michaela Curran built a legal life out of steady study and steady practice. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles in 1977, earned a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1978 and completed her law degree at the University of San Diego School of Law in 1984. Those years set a foundation for a private practice that has spanned decades.

After law school she entered private practice and developed a practice rooted in client counseling, dispute resolution and courtroom work. She is admitted to practice in California and is authorized to appear before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Over time she settled into the dual roles many small-firm lawyers inhabit — advocate in contentious matters and neutral in settlement settings.

Curran founded The Curran Law Office, APC and continues to serve as its owner. The firm operates as a small, locally based practice. As owner she manages intake, case strategy and the business of running a firm, while also carrying an active caseload. Her work there reflects the tradeoffs of small-firm practice: close client contact, hands-on file management and direct responsibility for outcomes.

In addition to representing clients, Curran serves as a mediator through her firm. She is listed as a certified mediator at The Curran Law Office, APC and regularly handles settlement conferences and private mediations. That role places her on both sides of dispute resolution — she advocates for clients when litigation is necessary and helps opposing parties find common ground when settlement is possible. Her mediation practice draws on years of experience in civil matters and familiarity with court procedures in the state and federal systems.

Colleagues describe Curran as a lawyer who values clear explanation and practical options. Clients who choose a small-firm approach often cite the accessibility and continuity she offers. She has steered The Curran Law Office, APC through decades of change in the legal landscape, maintaining a practice that combines representation and neutral dispute resolution. Her current practice handles mediation and litigation matters in California and before the Ninth Circuit.
