About Michael V.
Michael V. Troso completed his undergraduate studies at LaSalle University, earning a B.A. in 1996. He went on to graduate from Rutgers School of Law–Camden with a J.D. in 2004. He is licensed to practice in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
His legal career began in public service. In 2005 he served as Deputy Lawyer General for the Lawyer General of New Jersey. He moved into private practice and joined Curtin & Heefner as an associate in 2008. In 2010 he became a partner at Levow Troso, and that same year he accepted a position as Associate Counsel with the Burlington County Board of Social Services. Since 2016 he has been listed as of counsel at Helmer, Conley, Kasselman, P.A.
Troso’s training and certifications speak to a practice that often intersects with criminal and municipal matters. He holds certification as a Municipal Court Trial Lawyer from the Supreme Court of New Jersey. Law enforcement and forensic training include Standardized Field Sobriety Testing and Drug Evaluation and Certification from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He has completed advanced instruction in cross-examination and in scientific evidence related to DWI/DUI cases through programs offered by Terence F. MacCarthy and the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
He maintains active memberships in both the New Jersey and Pennsylvania state bars and belongs to local bar groups including the Camden and Burlington County bar associations. He has been a member of the New Jersey Bar Association since 2005. On the national level he joined the National College of DUI Defense in 2010 and was a founding member of the DUI Defense Lawyers Association in 2014; he continues his involvement in both organizations.
The arc of his work runs from state-level public service to private litigation and advisory roles. He has handled municipal court matters and criminal defense work, drawing on courtroom experience and technical training in impaired-driving issues. He currently practices as of counsel at Helmer, Conley, Kasselman, P.A., where he concentrates his practice on criminal defense, municipal court matters, and DUI/DWI cases in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
